  • Notwithstanding the informations given in the literature, the genus Passalus F. s. str. (sensu Boucher, 2006), does not have two species, species: P. unicornis Lepeletier & Serville, 1825, an endemic of the Guadeloupe Archipelago (neotype designated), P. trinesides, n. sp., an endemic of Martinica, Dominica and St Lucia, and P. arrowiella Chalumeau, 1978, n. stat., an endemic of St Vincent & Grenadines and Grenada. The study of collections and field observations, from Martinica to Grenada, gathered near 790 samples and are desmonstrating these facts. The species are distinguished with diagnostic characters and illustrated. The three species are closely allied and probably forming a South-North cline on the Islands Arc. They are not closely allied to P. punctiger Lepeletier & Serville, 1825, as firstly supposed in the literature, but to another species group under study.
