Talparia talpa lutani n. ssp. from Tahiti and the Tuamotus differs from populations from Hawaii, the Marquesas and other places in the Indo-Pacific by its combination of a narrow cylindrical shape, and the strong development of callus at the extremities and the columellar margin. Additionally, it has the greatest mass ratio and finer, more closely set labral dentition than any other T. talpa population.
