  • The first volume of Tineidae treats the subfamilies Dryadaulinae, Hapsiferinae, Euplocaminae, Scardiinae, Nemapogoninae and Meessiinae from Europe. A total of 180 species are diagnosed and figures of the moths, male and female genitalia are given. Information is added on the life history and distribution of the species. The distribution data are summarised in a table showing the records for each European country. The following nomenclatural innovations are introduced: Nemapogon nevellus Zagulajev, 1963, syn. n. is synonymised with N. cloacella (Haworth, 1828), N. wolffiella Karsholt&Nielsen, 1976, syn. n. is synonymised with N. koenigi Capuse, 1967, N. similella Gaedike, 2007, syn. n. is synonymised with N. sardicus Gaedike, 1983, N. teberdellus Zagulajev, 1963, syn. n. and its misspelling N. teberdensis Zagulajev, 1964 as well as N. georgiellus Zagulajev, 1963, syn. n. and its misspelling N. georgicus Zagulajev, 1964 are synonymised with N. lagodechiellus Zagulajev, 1962. Lichenotinea maculata Petersen, 1957, syn. n. is synonymised with L. pustulatella (Zeller, 1852). Novotinea ochripennella Nel&Varenne, 2011 syn. n. is synonymised with Xystrologa grenadella (Walsingham, 1897). Infurcitinea nedae Gaedike, 1983, comb. n. is transferred to Dryadaula.
