  • New Caledonian Aphodiidae: update of knowledge and descriptions of new species (Coleoptera, Scarabaeoidea). Knowledge about Aphodiidae from New Caledonia is updated. Six species of Ataenius and two species of Saprosites, new for science, are described and illustrated: Ataenius aphodiiformis n. sp.. A. forgiei n. sp.. A. montreuili n. sp.. A. rakovici n. sp.. A. raslani n. sp., A. stebnickae n. sp., Saprosites deharvengi n. sp. and S. degallieri n. sp. A new synonymy is proposed: Ataenius gutierrezi Paulian, n. syn. for Ataenius peregrinator Harold. The lectotype of Saprosites catenatus (Fauvel) and neotype of Ataenius palustris (Montrouzier) are designated. Ataenius imparilis Blackburn and Rhyparus helophoroides Fairmaire are newly reported from this territory.
