Two species of Deathwatch beetles (Coleoptera Ptinidae) are newly recorded in France. The first species, Ernobius explanatus phobos Gottwald, 1971 (Ernobiinae), was found in the district of Hautes-Alpes (SE France) in 2017, later in Corsica (2018). The second species, Cacotemnus thomsoni (Kraatz, 1881) (Anobiinae) was caught in 2018 in the Savoy Alps. Elements of distribution and ecology, catching conditions and a short diagnosis with photographs were reported for both species.
