In the present paper a new species of the genus Narycia Stephens 1833 is described. The species has been found in different localities of the French alps during 1983 and 1984. It can be discriminated from the nearest allies N. monilifera GEOFFROY 1785 and N. astrella HERRICH-SCHAFFER 1851 by the white colour of the males, the wing-venation and the genital index and the reduced wings of the females. The discovery is of high importance in phylogeny.
