  • The genus Setina Schrank, 1802, in France and Western Europe is studied in the present article, with a revision of Western European species; one new subspecies endemic to National Park of Mercantour and its surroundings is described: Setina irrorella panthera n. ssp. It especially has a medium size, thick antemarginal black dots on the forewings and hindwings, underside of forewings with reduced black suffusion. Morphological studies, together with bibliographical sources have led me to specify criteria to distinguish the different species of Setina: Setina roscida (Denis & Schiffermtiller, 1775), S. ramosa (Fabricius, 1793), S. irrorella (Linnaeus, 1758) and S. alpestris Zeller, 1865, and their various subspecies.
