dct:abstract
  • The lithobiomorph centipede Eupolybothrus tridentinus (Fanzago, 1874) is found for the first time in France, in the Integral Biological Reserve of the forest of the Grand'Cote, included in the Reserve Naturelle Nationale of the Lac of Remoray (Doubs department). The forest of the Grand'Cote is a beech-spruce forest between 900 and 1000 m a.s.l. The specimens of E. tridentinus are described and illustrated by some figures. The French endemic Lithobius (Lithobius) delfossei lorio&Geoffroy, 2007, previously known from Alps only, and the very rare Lithobius (Lithobius) mutabilis L. Koch, 1862 also exist in the same forest. The two L. (L.) delfossei of the Grand'Cote show some minor differences with regards to the typical species, but are tentatively attached to this one. The Reserve of the Lac of Remoray thus has a strong interest for the Chilopoda, but much more detailed studies will be necessary to better known its centipede fauna.
