| - In order to find matured nematodes of Onchocerca genus, gastrolienale ligaments from 30 bisons and 40 cattle, and nuchae ligaments from 18 bisons and 20 cattle have been taken. Ligaments were exposed micro- and macroscopic examinations and discovered nematodes were izolated, In 60% of investigated bisons and in 80% of cattle O. lienalis, and in 36% of bisons and 30% of cattle O. gutturosa were found. Intensity of onchocercosis invasion in bisons fluctuated from 2 to 17 nematodes, and in cattle from 1 to 11 nematodes. Nematodes O. lienalis were localized in cattle only in gastro-lienate ligament and under spleen capsula, and in bisons they were found also on external surface of oesophagus and under peritoneum on the rumen wall. Nematodes O. gutturosa were localized in both cattle and bisons in geminate part of ligamentum nuchae between its lamines. Matured nematodes of both species induce local inflammation processes in the place of their parasiting. Finding of nematodes O. lienalis and O. gutturosa in European bisons and in cattle in Bialowieza Forest is the first registration of the species on territory of Poland. European bison is a new host for both species of Onchocerca.
