Nemhelix bakeri n. gen., sn. sp. (Cosmocercinae), from the genital tract of Helix aspersa Muller (Helicidae) in France, is described. The new genus is characterized by a rounded oral opening without lipis. The authors presume that the Cosmocercinae arose in amphibians and became parasites of molluscs secondarily and that the two species became molluscan parasites independently.
