  • While identifying the specimens of a set of Spanish Sciomyzidae, a series of Psacadina Enderlein, 1939 revealed the existence of an undescribed species. Additional material from three entomological collections provided more specimens of this species. Psacadina sienae sp. nov. is described based on 19 males and 2 females from seven locations of Portugal, Spain, and southern France. We could not confirm the presence of P. verbekei Rozkosny, 1975, in the Iberian Peninsula. Psacadina verbekei is hereby recorded for the first time from Georgia. Diagnostic characters for the six species of Psacadina are given, together with distribution maps and phenology plots. The first pictures of the type of Psacadina kaszabi Elberg, 1978 are provided. Barcodes for P. sienae sp. nov., P. verbekei, P. zemyi Mayer, 1953 and P. vittigera (Schiner, 1864) are generated, confirming P. sienae sp. nov as a valid species, not as a subspecies.
