A new species of the genus Waltzoyphius was discovered during a biological survey of more than 30 streams and rivers in French Guyana. W roberti n. sp. is the second species of this genus which is found again for the first time and confirmed. Description of the last-instar larva allowed also some complements to the original definition of Waltzoyphius. Main discriminant features between roberti and fasciatus McCafferty & Lugo-Ortiz are : setation of labrum ; maxillary palpus (three segments versus two), number of falcate denticles on galealacinia ; three dark bands on cerci vs. one. Preferential habitats of W roberti are rooted plants in slow current and leaf litters.
