  • During the prospecting of the harpacticoid fauna from the groundwaters in France, 6 forms belonging to the Canthocamptidae Sars, 1906; Lang, 1948 were collected. One of them is new for science, Elaphoidella brehieri n. sp., collected in the Rochelongue cave, Aveyron. The new species belongs to the simplex group of the genus Elaphoidella. Elaphoidella brehieri is morphologically similar to E. pyrenaica Rouch, E. leruthi Chappuis, E. leruthi meridionalis Chappuis, E. boui Rouch et E. madiracensis Apostolov. The new species differs from these four species by the structure of endpod of P2 - P4 and P5. We find other differences in the total body size and form of caudal ramie themselves. The variability of some taxonomically important features of Moraria (Moraria) pectinata have been illustrated by drawings.
