  • The author revises the genus Conostethus for Western Europe, on the basis of the characters already known, and of the study of the formerly unknown female genital tractus. Syntypes of most of known taxa living in the area considered are studied; a lectotype and a paralectotype are designated for Conostethus roseus (FALLEN). The synonymy: Conostethus salinus J. SAHLBERG = (C. griseus DOUGLAS & SCOTT) = (C. frisicus E. WAGNER), is confirmed. Species recognized as valid are indicated, and Conostethus major n. sp. from French Atlantic coast, is described. A tentative key, proposed for the species, is discussed.
