An ichneumonid wasp was reared from field-collected caterpillars of Gortyna borelii in France and Italy. It is a new species which is described here. Lissonota boreliiphaga n. sp. is characterized by its distinctive morphology and its unique ecology. The reason why this noteworthy species has been overlooked until now is probably related to its ecology; it is evidently restricted to this single widespread though discontinuously distributed lepidopterous host.
