dct:abstract
  • The cecidogenic fauna (gall-inducing arthropods) of %22Parc National des Ecrins%22 (French Alps, south-east of Grenoble) was surveyed, from 500 to 2700 m above sea level. About 2300 occurrences, distributed among more than a hundred localities, provide 345 cecidogenic species, out of which fifty offer some character of novelty, being either new for France or even suspected to be new to Science. The distribution of a total of 128 mites, 47 bugs, 4 beetles, 4 moths, 116 flies and 44 wasps was assessed. These investigations are part of a more general survey of the cecidogenic fauna of centre, east and south parts of France. The interest attached to this ongoing survey is not only trying to improve our knowledge of this still rather neglected part of the biodiversity but also to acknowledge the promising tracks that gall-inducers likely open towards the future developments of %22genetic engeneering%22, when the latter will move beyond the 'purely genetic' stage to rejoin the %22cecidogen model%22, which has play %22epigenetic%22 for a lot of millions of years, while manipulating the morphogenese of host-plant tissues.
