  • Numerous recent captures of Cidnopus marginellus (Perris) confirm the presence in France of this species, whose actual geographic distribution is Spain and Portugal. Citations from France, up to now, concerned only chromatic variations of Cidnopus pilosus (Leske). This paper complements previous descriptions of Cidnopus marginellus, locates the latter amongst other species from Southwest Europe in a dichotomic synopsis and points out numerous localities where its presence was recorded in France. Some localities of Spain and Portugal are added to those cited by ZAPATA and SANCHEZ-RUIZ (2003). A subspecies brusteli nov. is described.
