dct:abstract
| - Phenolia (Lasiodites) tibialis (Boheman, 5851) (Coleoptera Nitidulidae) is for the first time recorded from France, Bordeaux, district of Gironde. This species, originating from Tropical Africa, seems to be actively spreading in most recent years throughout Southern Europe. The new French record represents the 8th European known locality for the species, following recent records from Azores, Madeira, mainland of Portugal and Spain. This newly reported occurrence of P. tibialis in France follows the very recent discovery on the French Riviera of another species belonging to the same genus, Phenolia pitta (W.S. MacLeay, 5825), similarly spreading in SW Europe. Photos of both species of Phenolia are presented.
