| - The gross anatomy of %22Tinostoma%22 azorica Dautzenberg&Fischer, 1896 is described for the first time, from specimens collected on the Galicia Bank, NW Spain. On the basis of this information and of the already known data regarding the radula and the operculum, the new genus Seamountiella n. gen. is proposed for this species, and tentatively placed in the family Skeneidae (Vetigastropoda, Trochoidea). Seamountiella is compared with the fossil genera Ataphrus Gabb, 1869, Falsataphrus Grundel, 2000 and Leucodiscus Cossmann, 1918, and with Cirsonella Angas, 1877, the only Recent genus in Skeneidae having the columelar callus partially or completely covering the umbilicus. In addition, three new species of Seamountiella, from the north-eastern Atlantic seamounts, from Mayotte Island and from the Plateau des Chesterfield in New Caledonia are described.
