  • The species Tityus metuendus Pocock, 1897, which belongs to the subgenus Atreus Gervais, 1843 is reported from French Guiana. The two specimens studied were collected in the southern range of French Guiana in the proximity of the Mitaraka Massif. This is the second species of medical importance to be reported from French Guiana. Previously only Tityus obscurus Gervais, 1843 was known for this French department. Some comments are also added to the large geographic distribution of the species in both Guayana and Amazonian regions.
