dct:abstract
| - As a complement to the inventory 2017 of the known Chironomidae (Diptera) from the Nature Reserve of Lake Remoray (MOUBAYED-BREIL et al. 2018), an updated list is provided based on material recently collected. Up to 5000 male adults were captured only in using Malaise traps, which were placed mainly during the full lunar period in six ecological zones delimited by the Remoray Lake basin: Zones I-III, Remoray Lake; Zone IV, semi-terrestrial habitats, wet sedge meadows; Zone V, peat bogs; Zone VI, springs and streams. A list of 119 additional species is provided in the present inventory 2019, which includes 11 new records for France and 5 undescribed species. Therefore, the previous list of 188 known taxa/species from the NNRLR is currently upgraded to 307 belonging to 90 genera and composed of: 24 Tanypodinae (12 genera), 5 Diamesinae (3), 4 Prodiamesinae (3), 151 Orthocladiinae (37) and 123 Chironominae (35). Spatial distribution of species in the ecological zones where faunal comparative results allowed us to distinguish: Zone II (136 species, 44.3%); Zone V (137, 44.6%); Zone VI (135, 44.0%). New records for the Natural Reserve and for the French fauna highlight the predominance of the Orthocladiinae and Chironominae. Compared to other neighbouring wetlands areas, a high number of common species (52%) is observed and therefore, must be confirmed by more detailed faunal data, based on aquatic samples which can generate an associated material composed of male pharate adults, pupal exuviae and larvae. Analysis of biological traits of species and their autoecological assessment enabled the presence of three types of species: lenithophilic (167 species, 54.4%), rheophilic (93, 30.3%) and semiterrestrial or subaquatic (47, 15.3%). Database on the distribution, abundance and ecology are also given for some rare or little known species, which highlight the importance of bioindicator species in the preservation of threatened aquatic and subaquatic habitats. Cold springs and streams, peat bogs and temporary weatlands are regarded as true hotspots of diversity and endemism where are confined stenothermic species and biogeographical representatives with restricted distribution.
