dct:abstract
  • Three new species in the genus Lonomia WALKER, 1855 (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) from the northern South America are described and figured: L. moniqueae n. sp. (type locality: Venezuela (Monagas state)), L. cayennensis n. sp. (French Guiana (Cayenne)) and L. rubroguyana n. sp. (French Guiana (Cayenne)). All holotypes are deposited in coll. Ronald BRECHLIN, Pasewalk (CRBP), in coll. Museum / Stiftung (Foundation) Thomas WITT, Munich (Germany), which later, together with this collection, will be included in Zoologische Staatssammlung Munchen, Munich, Germany. The preimaginal instars of all new species are unknown. Furthermore, the true [female] of L. orientocordillera BRECHLIN, KACH&MEISTER, 2013 is figured (Fig. 8) for the first time. The paratype (allotype) [female] of L. orientocordillera (Fig. 6&Fig. (22) in BRECHLIN&MEISTER 2013: 38) is actually a [female] of L. orientoandensis BRECHLIN&MEISTER, 2011 (subsequently demonstrated by DNA-%22barcoding%22: %22BC-RBP 7066%22).
