  • A small collection of 31 specimens of deep-sea palaemonoid shrimps has been examined and found to contain eight undescribed species: five species of the genus Periclimenes, P. parvispinatus, P. fujinoi, P. uniunguiculatus, P. vaubani, P. richeri; one species of Pontonia, P. monnioti, a second species of the genus Mesopontonia, M. gracilicarpus and one species of a new genus, ALTOPONTONIA, A. disparostris. One specimen of P. vaubani was collected from 650 m, representing the greatest depth from which material was obtained. Most of the species collected are probably associates of other marine invertebrates, but only one association was established with certainty, that of P. monnioti with an ascidian host. Only three of the species collected have been previously described, and two, Urocaridella gracilis AND Anchistioides willeyi, are now recorded for the first time from over 100 m.
