dct:abstract
  • A new Molineus species (Nematoda, Trichostrongvlina, Molineoidea), parasite of a South American primate. Description of Molineus midas n.sp., a parasite of the small intestine of Saguinus midas (Primate, Hapalidae) from French Guyana. The many species of the genus, parasites of Carnivora throughout the world, have three primitive characters frequently occurring in Strongylina but rarely in Trichostrongylina. These characters are the following: a pattern bursa of 2-1-2, rays 4 short and a cervical groove at the level of the excretory pore. One or other of these characters is lacking in the species parasitic in American primates or in the species geographically close to Guiana. These three characters are absent in the new species.
