The finding of 3 specimens of R. carsticus in non-karstic surface waters in France is reported. The morphology of the species is described. The species had previously been considered endemic to the karst of the eastern Carpathians in Czechoslovakia. An overview of the Rhyacodrilinae species of France was presented. Until recently this subfamily was represented in France solely by the genus Rhyacodrilus, specifically R. coccineus, R. alciformis and R. balmensis. The presence of Monopylephorus montanus and Epirodrilus pygmaeus is noted. Bothrioneurum vejdovskyanum is also new for France.
