  • A taxonomic review of Laimaphelenchus Fuchs, 1937 is proposed. Three species are redescribed from the type specimens: Laimaphelenchus pannocaudus Massey, 1966, L. pensobrinus Massey, 1966 and L. phloeosini Massey, 1974. L. pini sp. nov. is described; associated with Pinus pinaster and Grimmia pulvinata, this new species is characterized by its small size, 4 incisures in the lateral fields and lack of a ventral vulvar flap. From the populations found in P. pinaster, the morphological and biometrical data of L. penardi, L. pannocaudus and L. pensobrinus are determined. Other changes include: Laimaphelenchus Fuchs, 1937 (= Ruidosaphelenchus (Laumond et Carle, 1971) syn. nov.); and type species L. penardi (Steiner, 1914) Fil. et Sch. Stekh., 1941 (= Aphelenchus penardi Steiner, 1914; = Aphelenchoides penardi (Steiner, 1914) Mac Beth, 1937; = L. moro Fuchs, 1937, syn. nov.; and L. ulmi Khan, 1960 syn. nov.). Other species discussed are: L. deconincki Elmiligy et Geraert, 1971; L. pannocaudus Massey, 1966; L. pensobrinus Massey, 1966 (= R. pensobrinus (Massey, 1966) Laumond et Carle, 1971; = R. janasi Laumond et Carle, 1971, syn. nov.); L. phloeosini Massey, 1974; and L. pini. L. lignophilus (Koerner, 1954) J.B. Goodey, 1960, (= Aphelenchoides lignophilus Koerner, 1954, Bursaphelenchus lignophilus (Koerner, 1954) Meyl, 1960) is considered as species incertae sedis. A key and an emended diagnosis are proposed for Laimaphelenchus.
