  • Additional morphological data are given on the following Nematodirus: N. roscidus Railliet, 1911, from Dama dama (Italy); N. abnormalis May 1920, from Ovies aries, Capra hircus and Rupicapra rupicapra (France, Italy and Australia); N. lanceolatus Ault, 1944, from O. aries (Iran); N. europaeus Jansen, 1972, from Capreolus capreolus and O. musimon (1st record) (France); N. davtiani alpinus Biocca, Balbo et Costantini, 1974, from R. rupicapra (Italy); N. rupicaprae Biocca, Balbo et Costantini, 1983, from R. rupicapra (France); N. ibicis Biocca, Balbo et Costantini, 1983, from Capra ibex (Italy). Also, 4 new species are described: N. bioccai from O. aries (Iran); N. chabaudi from R. rupicapra (France); N. hugonnetae from R. rupicapra (France); and N. iranicus from O. aries (Iran). By using the morphology, host distribution and host paleogeography, an hypothesis is given on the evolution of the Nematodirus and the Nematodirinae.
