| - One male specimen of F arctica (L.) collected at Hernyken, Rost [Norway] was examined for parasites. In the air sacs (thoracic and abdominal) of the bird, 53 mature female specimens of R. lomviae were recovered. No males were seen. This is the 1st record of R. lomviae in Norway. The female R. sternae (Diesing, 1864) and R. lomviae are figured, and morphometric size data for both species are given. The hypothesis of parasite transmission is briefly mentioned, and the importance of comparisons and increased knowledge of both parasite and host ethology and ecology in elucidating the life cycle is stressed.
