| - Lynceus brachyurus Miiller, 1776 was discovered on a new locality in France in a temporary marshland near the town of Seltz (France, Bas-Rhin). This is the second locality in France, the second mention in the Grand Est administrative region and the first mention for the Alsace area. This article presents taxonomic, biogeographic, ecological and morphological information on this species and describes the site corresponding to the new observation. All these elements indicate that this species, classified as CR (Critically Endangered) on a national scale, is also seriously threatened with extinction on a local scale, which leads to its classification as Critically Endangered on both a regional and national level. We therefore provide the necessary recommendations in terms of research on the field and of protection of %22large branchiopods%22 and their habitats.
