| - In the mediterranean region six whitefly species, all belongings to the genus Aleuroviggianus Iaccarino, occur on evergreen oaks. Four species are known only from the south of Europe: A. adrianae Iaccarino, A. polymorphus sp. n., A. zonalus, sp. n. and A. graecus sp.n., and two from Asia Minor: A. halperini Bink-Moenen (1991) and A. adanaensis sp.n. Although the pupal cases of these six species differ considerably from each other, they are nevertheless regarded as belonging to one genus because the adults hardly differ. For that reason the value of combining adult and pupal case characters in generic concepts is discussed briefly. The genus is characterized by the sensoria of the adult antenna, which are of a type not known to occur in other species. Descriptions are given of the pupal case of each species together with characteristics of the adults when available. Aleuroviggianus graecus has been added, although adults could not be obtained, as most of the features of its pupal case can be found in other species. A new generic definition based on pupal cases and adults, and a key to the pupal cases, are provided.
