A new species of the genus Thricops Rondani, 1856, viz. T. tatricus sp.n., is decribed from the western Carpathians and from Pyrenees. The new taxon with broad-fronted males is interpreted as an alpine morphotype derived from T. furcatus Stein, 1916, due to interglacial events.
