  • The European species of the genus Heleodromia (Diptera, Empididae) are revised. Descriptions and drawings of the following species are provided: H. immaculata Haliday, H. irwini sp. nov., H. oldenbergi sp. nov., H. schachti sp. nov., H. pectinulata (Strobl) and H. banatica sp. nov. For the last 2 species with differently structured genitalia a new subgenus, ILLIESIELLA is created, type-species H. pectinulata (Strobl). A key for the European species is provided. The distribution of the species is discussed and the structure of abdomen and genitalia of both subgenera are compared.
