  • For this biometric study fifty parameters (of which only thirty proved effective) were measured on one hundred and thirtyfour specimens 5 and one hundred and sixty specimens y, including types or topotypes of Arcyptera brevipennis Brunner v. W., ssp brevipennis, A. brevipennis ssp. vicheti Harz, A. kheili Azam, A. microptera Fischer de W., ssp. carpentieri Azam, A. microptera ssp. alzonai Capra. The key results are as follows. 1. The study of the watches, and much better than that of the, that what was hitherto called Arcyptera %22kheili%22 actually corresponds to two distinct species. The y of the new taxon, Arcyptera kheilioides, sp. nov., is much less corpulent than that of A. kheili, the vertex and the subocular sulcus are smaller in absolute value and relative to the length of the eye, and the indices of holoptery are lower. On the other hand, biometrics of y also show that the taxon kheili is close enough to A. brevipennis vicheti to be considered another subspecies of A. brevipennis: Arcyptera brevipennis kheili, stat. nov. 2. Biometrics of makes it possible to clearly separate Arcyptera brevipennis ssp. vicheti, A. brevipennis ssp. kheili and A. kheilioides on the one hand, from taxa related to Arcyptera microptera on the other hand: the 5 of first are much more corpulent than those of ten second, they are brachypteric (A. microptera group: isopteric or slightly brachypteric), they are more micropteric, and the ratio of eye length to interocular space width is lower on average.. 3. A. m. carpentieri from causse du Larzac and Ardeche mountain differs clearly from the A. m. microptera from Greece: for the d as for they A. m. carpentieri is frankly micropteric (A. m. microptera: macropteric), slightly brachypteric (A. in. microptera: frankly isopteric) and its holoptery indices are much lower. In addition, in 5 the hind femurs are rather stockier and the ratio of eye length / interocular space tends to be higher. 4. The population of causses Mejean and Sauveterre (Lozere) and causse Noir (Aveyron) deserves a status of special subspecies: Arcyptera. microptera lozeriensis, ssp. nov.: the holoptery indices of and 9 have intermediate values between those of A. in. microptera from Greece and those of A. m. carpentieri from Larzac and Arache, and with a small overlap of the ranges of values in 5. Moreover, pronotum tends to be shorter (5 and 9); finally, 6 are frankly isopteric (A. m. carpentieri: slightly brachypteric, A. in. microptera: frankly isopteric).
