dct:abstract
| - After recalling the relative shortage of information available on the present state of health of the wild boar (Sus scrofa L.), the authors indicate the conditions under which several surveys on the diseases in this species have lately been conducted in France. The methods used for the collection and examination of clinical samples are described. The results are reported in two tables, in one of which, based on 246 animals, 20 viral, bacterial or parasitic diseases are identified. The authors conclude that although French wild boars currently resist quite well to the diseases considered to be dangerous to the species, a constant monitoring of these animals is necessary, especially regarding the diseases transmissible to man or the domestic pig.
