  • A new oribatid mite genus belonging to the family Ceratozetidae, Hispanozetes n. gen. is described. The new genus has well separated lamellae, bicialliated fusiform sensilli, 10 pairs of notogastral setae, semi-moving pteromorfs, tridactyl legs and sometimes the porose areas are imperceptible. Five new species, Hispanozetes striatus n. sp., Hispanozetes foveolatus n. sp., Hispanozetes Bicomiculatus n. sp., Hispanozetes bicarinatus n. sp. and Hispanozetes punctulatus n. sp., are described; the former four were sampled in Spain and the last one in France. The new combination Hispanozetes aragonensis (Perez-lnigo jr., Herrero y Perez-Inigo, 1988) n. comb. is proposed and this species is considered as type species of the new genus. All the studied species show the common endogean morphological features.
