Zelotes puritanus Chamberlain, 1922 was discovered in the Hautes-Pyrenees. It is new to France. The habitus and the epigyne of the female are illustrated. The closely related species, of the laetus/puritanus group, are listed. The distribution and the biogeographic origin of the European species of this group are discussed.
