As part of a review of the species of the group of Sarota gyas, and particularly of those occurring in French Guiana, a new species, Sarota karishmae n. sp., is described and differentiated from close species, Sarota acantus (Stoll, 1782), S. miranda Brevignon, 1998, S. gyas (Cramer, 1775), S. myrtea Godman & Salvin, 1886, S. flavicincta (Lathy, 1932) and S. completa Hall, 1998. The name atlantica is restored to the rank of subspecies: Sarota flavicincta atlantica Brevignon & Gallard, 1998, stat. rev. A new synonymy is proposed: Sarota lasciva Hall, 1998, n. syn. for Sarotaflavicincta atlantica Brevignon & Gallard, 1998. The female of Sarota miranda is described. Male and female genitalia are illustrated.
