In August 2015 a one-day prospecting in the Vigueirat marsh (Coastal protection agency) allowed to collect 11 adults of the rice water weevil, Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus Kuschel, 1952. A synthesis of knowledge of its world-wide distribution, biology and taxonomy is provided. Morphological discriminant features between the genera Bagous Germar, 1817 and Lissorhoptrus Leconte, 1876 but also specific characters for the determination of L. oryzophilus are reminded. The species list of aquatic Coleoptera recorded at the two sampling sites is given.
