A systematic revision of Subfamily Aleocharinae of the New Caledonia is presented. After some historical notes, the 32 genera and the 95 species of the subfamily are examined. For each one a short diagnosis (with a comprehensive figure and more details), the synonymy and chorology is given. Eleven genera and 8 species are described as new and new combinations are proposed for 6 species. Lectotypes are designated, when necessary, for all previously described species. Habitat records, when known, are given for each genus. Keys to the tribes, genera and species are provided. In the conclusive part of the paper some considerations of general zoogeographic value are given.
