Cimex hemipterus (Fabricius, 1803), the tropical and subtropical bedbug, is recorded for the first time from France in the city of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhone), already strongly infested with C. lectularius Linnaeus, 1758. Two small populations, apparently well established, have been discovered in 2015 and 2017 in two places of the city. Habitus is given for both species, as well as some diagnostic characters distinguishing C. hemipterus from C. lectularius. France is plagued after Russia and Sweden.
