dct:abstract
103 species of Rhopalum are recorded from the New World. They are presented in a key then in alphabetical order with the relevant reeferences and the up to date information on their distribution. Seven species were already recorded from America north of Mexico, two of them being also well known from the Palearctic Region, but none has been found in Latin America. With 93 species, the fauna of Latin America appears to be as rich as that of the Australian Region (98 species having been recorded from Australia in Leclercq, 1997). 72 species are sp.n.: Rhopalum acamas (Colombia), ansatum (Colombia), banosense (Colombia, Ecuador), bogotae (Colombia), cajanum (Bolivia, Ecuador), caldux (Ecuador), caliense (Colombia, Costa Rica, Venezuela), calvitinum (Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad), caripenne (Venezuela), categoricum (Trinidad), caudinum (Peru), cecropis (Ecuador), clonatum (Brazil), cumbayae (Peru), deroanni (Argentine, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru), duclosi (Guadeloupe), durangoense (Mexico), extranum (Ecuador), facetum (Costa Rica, Mexico), farri (Jamaica), faustum (Ecuador, Peru), federale (Brasil), gratuitum (Costa Rica, Guatemala), hansoni (Brasil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama), huberi (Jamaica), huilae (Colombia, Costa Rica), jamesoni (Costa Rica), kawense (French Guyana), Iomae (Republica Dominicana), macasae (Ecuador), mornense (Trinidad), moronae (Ecuador), musallae (Guatemala, Honduras), mycenum (Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Panama, Peru), nactor (Ecuador), navatum (Brazil), negligens (Costa Rica), nemesis (Mexico), nifargum (Costa Rica, Mexico), nuphar (Ecuador), palmarae (Bolivia, Peru), pichinchae (Ecuador), pitillae (Costa Rica), popayans (Colombia), praenatum (Ecuador), rondeuxi (Brazil), rorator (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru), rossi (Peru), runcator (Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela), ruppiatum (Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Venezuela), rustulum(Costa Rica), rutans (Costa Rica), rutrax (Brazil, Peru), saccatum (Costa Rica, S.
