The aim of this article is to report for the first time the observation of the dice snake Natrix tessellata in France. This record is illustrated with pictures allowing no doubt about the specific identification of those snakes. Indeed, I observed, in a single half-day, two dice snakes in the town of Meillerie, French department of Haute-Savoie. This, added to the extent of the very close Swiss populations suggests the strong implantation of the species in a small area of the southe eastern French part of Lake Geneva and should motivate the addition of the dice snake to the list of the French Reptiles.
