A parasitological survey of 208 labrid fishes belonging to the species Symphodus tinca and Labrus merula collected from the Spanish Mediterranean coast has been carried out. Intestinal nematodes of the species Cucullanus micropapillatus and Cucullanus carbonelli have been found in Labrus merula and Symphodus tinca respectively. New morphological features and biometrical data of C. micropapillatus are presented. The species of the family Cucullanidae Cobbold, 1864 known from labrid fishes are reviewed.
