<jats:p>The flower fly genus <jats:italic>Ischiodon</jats:italic> Sack (Diptera, Syrphidae) is revised and a new species, <jats:italic>Ischiodonastales</jats:italic> <jats:bold>sp. n.</jats:bold>, is described from Madagascar. Additionally, a lectotype for <jats:italic>Ischiodonaegyptius</jats:italic> is designated and the first records of <jats:italic>Ischiodonscutellaris</jats:italic> for the Arabian Peninsula are reported. Diagnoses, illustrations, synonymies and distributional data are given for all described species, as well as an identification key to all known species.</jats:p>
