Fifteen new species of the genus Lonomia WALKER, 1855 (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) are described and figured: L. paralectra BRECHLIN & MEISTER n. sp. from Guatemala (Alta Verapaz), L. mexilectra BRECHLIN & MEISTER n. sp. from Mexico (Oaxaca, Chiapas), L. luteomexicana BRECHLIN & MEISTER n. sp. from Mexico (Oaxaca, Chiapas), L. yucatensis BRECHLIN & MEISTER n. Sp. from Paraguay (Alto Parana, Caazapa), Argentina (Misiones) and S Brazil (Parana, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul). The holotype of L. maranhensis n. sp. (ex coll. Carlos MIELKE, Brazil (CGCM)) will be deposited in the coll. Pe. Jesus S. MouRE, Departamento de Zoologia, Universidade Federal do Parana, Curitiba, Parana, Brazil; all the other holotypes (ex coll. Ronald BRECHLIN, Pasewalk (CRBP), Frank MEISTER, Prenzlau (CFMP) or Eric VAN SCHAYCK, Wetter (CEvS)) are deposited in CRBP in coll. Museum WITT, Munich (Germany), which later, together with this collection, will be included in Zoologische Staatssammlungen Muenchen, Munich, Germany. In addition, L. concordia DRUCE, 1886 stat. rev. is removed from synonymy with L. electra DRUCE, 1886 and reinstated to species rank.
