The Authors describe Anonconotus mercantouri n. sp. collected in the French Maritime Alps, along the border of the 'Pare National du Mercantour' (eastern end of the Vallon de la Madone de Fenestre, around M. Caval, 1800-2348 m, St. Martin-Vesubie, France). The species is well characterised within the genus Anonconotus having very peculiar titillators and cerci in the male and subgenital plate in the female. The new species is illustrated with several photos of alive specimens of both sexes and of the habitats at different altitudes. The Orthoptera species living with Anonconotus mercantouri n. sp. in different localities are listed. The article is illustrated by 12 figures.
