Anax junius is specific to the Americas. It is capable of large-scale migratory flights. During a study of spatial movements by Sympetrum sp., we saw a specimen of Anax junius in flight, along the France western coast, in the Loire-Atlantique department. It was captured and is actually stored in the Natural History Museum of Nantes (France).
