dct:abstract
The generic complex Parasitus Latreille, 1795 was studied. Diagnostic semiology of natural lines in the Parasitus s.l. group is discussed and references analyzed. Many species belonging to the Parasitus s.l. are not named Parasitus. Eugamasus spp. from western Europe (from the Netherlands to Spain) and from the Austrian Alps were examined and keyed. The following new species are described and illustrated: E. nanus, E. pygmaeus, E. exiguus, E. parvulus, E. femoralis and E. maguliaris [all from Spain]; E. trivialis [Bavaria, West Germany]; E. effigialis [Brittany, France]; E. prosapialis and E. tarsalis [from Austria]. Characteristics of the generic Parasitus s.l. complex and diagnostic characteristics of Eugamasus Berlese 1892 (type Gamasus magnus Kramer 1876) are given. More than 20 spp. are discussed.
